My dear son,
As you turn 12 today, I find myself thinking about the wonderful young person you are becoming. Life is opening up before you—with new friendships, new experiences, new dreams, and many lessons yet to come.
If there is one lesson I want you to carry with you, it is this:
When people step away, purpose steps in.
There may be times when friends don’t stand by you, people you trust disappoint you, or someone you thought would always be there chooses to walk away. You may feel lonely and wonder, “Who is really there for me?”
Remember, my son, someone leaving your life does not mean you have lost your direction.
Even Arjuna, one of the greatest warriors, experienced moments of doubt and confusion. When he felt overwhelmed, Krishna reminded him to look beyond his fears and attachments and focus on his dharma—his purpose and what was right.
That lesson is timeless.
People may be part of your journey, but they cannot be the foundation of your life. Friends are important, and those who love and support you are precious, but never make your happiness depend entirely on others.
People may come and go.
Your values must stay.
Your courage must stay.
Your faith must stay.
Your belief in yourself must stay.
Sometimes, what feels like loss is actually redirection. Sometimes, losing someone’s support teaches you how strong you can be on your own.
So, if one day you find yourself standing alone, don’t change who you are just to make someone stay. Instead, ask yourself: “Am I doing the right thing? Am I becoming a better person? Am I staying true to myself?”
If the answer is yes, keep going.
And always remember: you are never truly alone. When the world feels distant, turn inward, have faith, and keep moving forward.
My son, as you begin this new chapter, may you have the courage of Arjuna, the wisdom to know what truly matters, and the faith to keep walking even when the path is unclear.
People may be part of your journey, but your character, courage, values, and purpose are the foundation that will carry you forward.
Happy 12th birthday, my son.
Keep growing. Keep learning. Keep believing. Keep becoming the person you are meant to be.
With all my love,
Mom and Dad
You are our greatest blessing.
